Monochrome

Monochrome

Reliable IRC client

Description

IRC drops channels when the link hiccups and asks for passwords again on every reconnect, and many clients cope poorly with flaky networks. Monochrome puts stability first, holds the connection as best it can on a bad network, and reconnects on its own.

It is an IRC client for people who already know IRC commands, plain on purpose and focused on reliability. NickServ identification is automatic, and the config file can be password-protected.

Features

Automatic identification:NickServ login is handled for you on the common IRC networks.

Unicode throughout:Chinese and other non-Latin channels display correctly.

DCC transfers:Send and receive files with an auto-accept whitelist.

Ignore lists and triggers:Ignore and half-ignore lists, plus trigger words that alert you.

Auto-away and aliases:Monitors away status and shortens frequent commands with aliases.

Encrypted config:Since 2.0 the configuration file can be password-protected.

How it runs:The download is an x64 7z archive that works once extracted, with no installer.
