Description
The one program on a server that must never stop freezes at 3 a.m., and nobody notices until the business is down in the morning. AppDog is a 244 KB watchdog: every 5 seconds it sends a test message to the target window through the Windows messaging API, and if nothing answers it takes the action you set.
Watch a program by its window title and restart it when it hangs or exits. It also has a backup feature that copies files from source folders, such as a mail server or voicemail box, to a hot standby system. Note it only proves the program answers messages, not that the service itself works.
Window title matching:set the title in advance and AppDog finds the program to watch.
Regular pings:a test message every 5 seconds checks the program still responds.
Recovery action:when the ping fails, run the configured action such as a restart.
File backup:copy files from source folders to a hot standby, handy for mail and voicemail setups.
