Description
The worst part of cutting talking-head video is hunting the timeline for the line you flubbed, dragging back and forth and cutting piece by piece. ScriptCut's idea is to edit video like a document: open a long recording, get a transcript, delete a sentence there and the matching footage is cut, then preview and export a finished video or social-ready clips.
It is an open-source, local-first desktop app. Your files stay on your computer and AI helpers are optional.
Edit by transcript: Delete, restore or mute sentences in the transcript and the video follows.
Export checks: Export preflight, output presets and caption delivery options for both full videos and shorts.
Local processing: Baseline transcription runs on a local model that is downloaded and verified before the first transcription and reused afterwards.
Self-contained runtime: The package bundles the runtime, core dependencies, FFmpeg and FFprobe, so no separate Python or FFmpeg setup.
It is a public alpha with a DMG for Apple Silicon Macs only, no Windows or Linux build, and it is not notarized, so the first launch needs Open Anyway in System Settings. Licensed under AGPL-3.0.
