Flash OS images to USB and SD in three steps

Description

The scariest part of making a boot disk is writing to the wrong drive: one wrong letter on the command line and the data on your hard disk is gone. balenaEtcher folds the whole job into three steps, pick the image, pick the drive, click Flash, with no extra options in the way.

It handles ISO, IMG, ZIP and other common image formats without unpacking them first. After writing it re-reads and validates the data, so you do not find out halfway through an install that the stick was not written properly. System drives are hidden by default, which makes picking the wrong one unlikely.

It works for flashing Raspberry Pi SD cards and for building Linux or Windows installers alike, and it is cross-platform, so the routine is the same everywhere.

Features

Three-step flashing: Select image, select drive, click Flash. The flow never changes.
Many image formats: Use ISO, IMG, ZIP and other files directly, no unpacking.
Post-write validation: Compares the data after flashing to confirm it was written correctly.
Wrong-drive protection: System drives are hidden by default to cut down accidental overwrites.
Cross-platform: Same steps on Windows, macOS and Linux.
