Description
Buying coins on a centralized exchange means ID checks first, and then your coins sit in the platform's account, so when it has a bad day, you have one too. Bisq removes the platform: it is a peer-to-peer desktop program where buyers and sellers trade directly.
It needs no account and never holds your funds. Both sides lock a security deposit in a multisig address, disputes go to an arbitrator, and the fiat side can run over bank transfer, cash or a range of payment methods.
The order book, price chart and deposits all live in one window, and traffic goes over Tor by default so your IP is not handed to the counterparty. If you want to buy some bitcoin and keep the keys yourself, you do not have to hand your ID to anyone.
Peer-to-peer trading: Buyers and sellers trade directly, with no middle platform and no sign-up.
Multisig deposits: Both parties lock deposits, which lowers the risk of the other side vanishing, with arbitration for disputes.
Many payment methods: Bank transfer, cash deposit and several electronic payment options across many currencies.
Tor network: Communication runs over Tor by default to protect where each side connects from.
Built-in wallet: A bitcoin wallet is included and the keys stay on your machine.
