CoolInstall Plus

CoolInstall Plus

Windows image installer from Wankuzhijia

Description

You have an ESD, a WIM or an old GHO and want to put it straight onto a partition without building a full boot disk. CoolInstall squeezes the whole job into three picks: choose the image, choose the boot partition, choose where to install, then press Start, and it handles extracting, writing boot files and restarting. It is a free tool kept up to date by the author Yaming Jushi on the Wankuzhijia forum, and it runs from a PE environment or from the system you are using.

The default window is a simple one with a handful of options. Press F2 for advanced mode, where you can add an unattended answer file, inject drivers, call external plugins, or choose whether the target partition is formatted before a WIM or ESD install. The install methods are wide: Wimboot, Compact, VHD, VHDX, UEFI and BIOS, plus creating, attaching and detaching virtual disks. For multi system setups, tick rebuild boot and it repairs the multi boot menu automatically. The archive also includes CIPCM, which builds variants such as a single file edition, x64 or x86 only editions and a mini build.
