Description
A message in Outlook will not display right, a calendar item keeps duplicating, or a shared mailbox permission does not add up. The window shows a handful of fields, while the real cause sits in properties of the message store that Outlook never reveals. MFCMAPI is Microsoft's own MAPI browser: it opens mailboxes, folders and every message through MAPI and lays the raw properties out so you can read and edit them.
It is a single file, portable program. Extract MFCMapi.exe and run it, with no registry writes and no installer. It needs the MAPI stack that Outlook or Exchange provides, and you pick a profile under Session, then Logon. The window has two panes: mailboxes, folders and address books on top, and below them every property of the selected object with its name, tag, type and value. Microsoft publishes it as open source under the MIT license on GitHub.
Browse message stores: after logging on with a profile, expand a mailbox, its folders and the messages inside, and open address books, public folders and mailboxes shared by other users
View and edit properties: each object's properties are listed by name, tag and type, can be opened and changed as text, Unicode, RTF or binary streams, and a property can be deleted outright
Export and convert: dump a whole mailbox or folder to text for comparison, and convert MSG and EML messages in both directions
Permissions and rules: read and change folder permissions, Inbox rules and delegate access, which makes "why can I not see that shared folder" quick to answer
Tables and notifications: sort message tables, apply restrictions, and subscribe to table notifications to watch changes made on the server
Hex editor and debug output: a built in hex editor and debug viewer open with Ctrl+H and Ctrl+D, handy for encoding and EntryID problems
x64 and x86 builds: separate 64 bit and 32 bit packages are published, so pick the one matching the bitness of your Outlook or MAPI will not be found
