OpenSpeedy

OpenSpeedy

Open source game speed changer

Description

An old single player game is locked to a low frame rate, a cutscene drags, farming means standing around waiting, and there is no switch to make it go faster. OpenSpeedy is an open source speed changer for Windows: start it, launch the game, tick the process in the list and drag the multiplier slider, and it takes effect straight away, with no game files edited and no restart.

It works by intercepting the system timing calls in user mode, the Sleep, GetTickCount and QueryPerformanceCounter family, so the game believes time is running faster or slower. It stays out of the kernel and does not modify it. The multiplier runs from 0.001 up to 1000, with five preset slots on the screen for one click switching. Both x86 and x64 processes can be sped up, the portable build runs once unzipped, and an MSI installer is available too. The project is built on Tauri and Rust and licensed under GPL-3.0.

One caution: many online games ship anti-cheat, and a speed changer can get an account banned, so it suits single player games best.

Features

Pick the target from a process list: every running process is listed and can be searched by name, PID or window title, then you flip the switch on the one to speed up

Wide multiplier range: the slider goes from 0.001x slow motion to 1000x fast forward, and five preset slots switch with one click

32 bit and 64 bit: handles x86 and x64 processes together, and the lower left corner shows the status of both injection components

User mode hooks: changes the time the game sees by intercepting Sleep, timeGetTime, GetTickCount and similar calls, without touching the kernel

Instant effect: a new multiplier shows up in the game at once with no restart, and it works well with many game engines

Light footprint: CPU, RAM and GPU usage are shown right in the window, and its own overhead is low so it does not take performance from the game

Portable build and MSI: the release page offers a no install zip and an MSI package, and winget works as well
