Network Notepad

Network Notepad

Network Topology Diagram Maker

Description

Explaining how a server room is wired to a client usually ends with dragging icons around in Visio or faking it in a slide deck. Network Notepad shrinks that job down to a free 4 MB Windows program built for one thing: drawing network diagrams.

It ships with a library of ready-made shapes. Drag devices onto the canvas, join them with lines, and switch on the IP address label so each box shows where it lives. Export the result as PNG, GIF or BMP and drop it into a document; small changes take minutes, not an afternoon.

Features

Built-in shape library: Objects are grouped into Flowchart, General and Title blocks, and drag-and-drop puts them wherever you need them.

Backbones and connection points: Add horizontal or vertical backbones plus connection points and links, so a device with many connections stays readable.

Custom text: Place notes anywhere and change font, size and color; send objects to the front or back when they overlap.

Basic editing: Cut, copy, paste, delete, undo, redo and search are all there, handy when a diagram grows large.

Import and export: Exchange data with CSV and NDG files, save diagrams as BMP, GIF or PNG, or print them directly.
