Grub2Win

Grub2Win

Configure GRUB2 multiboot from Windows

Description

Adding a Linux or two next to Windows on one PC, the boot menu is the pain: you boot Linux to hand-edit grub.cfg, and one slip leaves even Windows unreachable. Grub2Win installs GRUB 2 and configures its menu from inside Windows, with clicks and form fields instead of a command line.

It handles EFI and legacy BIOS, 32-bit and 64-bit, and the menu background can be your own jpg wallpaper. For popular Linux distributions it generates the boot entry automatically, so after installing a system you return to Windows and add one entry to see it in the menu.

Features

Install GRUB from Windows: Installing and updating GRUB 2 happens in Windows, with no need to boot Linux first.

Graphical entry editing: Add, delete and reorder menu entries, set the default system, timeout and hotkeys in the interface.

Generated distro configs: Boot configs for popular Linux distributions are generated for you; fill in the partition and go.

EFI and BIOS support: Works on 32-bit and 64-bit, EFI or legacy BIOS machines, with a partition list and firmware boot-order settings.

Custom wallpaper: Give the boot menu your own jpg background and preview it right in the tool.

Free and open source: Released under an open-source licence, with code and updates hosted on SourceForge.
