Description
Tidying notes, editing code and running scripts means hopping between a chat window, an editor and a terminal, and adding a capability to the agent means waiting for the vendor. DeepSeek Harness is DeepSeek’s official open-source agent harness and a ready-to-use desktop app for everyday work and coding.
Its architecture is “everything is a plugin”: chat, automation and tool use are all plugins, so you install one or write your own and the agent grows with it. Workspaces and sessions sit on the left, the conversation on the right, and long tasks run in the background while you check progress. A single npx command also starts a web UI. It is a developer preview under the MIT license.
Everything is a plugin:Built on Cordis, features compose as plugins you install or write.
Desktop and web:A desktop app out of the box, or npx @deepseek-ai/dsh web for a local web UI.
Coding:Understand a repo, fix bugs, build features and run tests.
Daily work:Organize material, analyze sheets, draft documents and reports.
Background tasks:Scripts and batch jobs run in the background with progress on demand.
Workspaces:Sessions grouped by project, plus automation tasks.
Open source:MIT license, public source and docs, community plugins welcome.
