Open-source HEVC video encoder

Description

Halving a video’s size without visible loss is where H.264 runs out of road. x265 is an open-source H.265/HEVC encoder that reaches similar quality at roughly half the bitrate.

It is a command-line tool and the encoder library behind HandBrake and FFmpeg, with presets from ultrafast to placebo. Only source is official, so Windows binaries come from third-party build sites.
