Description
The compiler says windows.h is missing, a driver needs WinDbg, and signing the installer means hunting for signtool. The Windows SDK puts them in one place: Microsoft’s official set of headers, libraries and tools for building Windows apps.
Each Windows release has its own SDK build you can pick in Visual Studio or install standalone for command-line builds, and several versions can live side by side.
Headers and libs:Win32, COM and WinRT.
Debugging:WinDbg and symbol tools.
Signing:signtool and MakeAppx.
Certification:Windows App Cert Kit.
Side by side:Multiple SDK versions.
