Description
Watching a video on a web page means a ring of recommendations, comments and blinking ads around the player, constantly pulling your eyes sideways. Full screen is not always the answer either, especially when you want the comments underneath.
Turn Off the Lights does one thing: click the lamp in the toolbar and the page fades to dark while the video stays lit, like a cinema dimming its house lights. Click again to restore it. Darkness level and fade speed are adjustable, and you can nudge brightness, contrast and saturation or apply a warm night mode across the whole page. It recognises YouTube, Vimeo, Bilibili and Netflix, and ships for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera and Safari.
One-click dimming: Press the lamp button and everything except the player fades to dark; press again to bring it back.
Adjustable darkness and fade: Set the overlay opacity, its colour and how long the transition takes.
Picture tweaks: Brightness, contrast and saturation controls sit in the extension, which rescues washed-out or overly dark sources.
Night mode: Beyond dimming around the video, a warm filter can be applied to the whole page for late-night browsing.
Every browser, most sites: Works on YouTube, Bilibili, Vimeo and Netflix, with builds for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera and Safari.
