The manuscript looks tidy in Word, you convert it to EPUB and upload to KDP, and what the reader sees on a six-inch e-ink screen is a lost first-line indent, an image pushed onto the next page and a table of contents pointing at the wrong chapter. Only a real device shows that, and nobody owns every model. Kindle Previewer is Amazon's official layout previewer: drop in an EPUB, DOCX or KPF and it renders the finished book as Kindle e-readers, tablets and phones would.
Device type, font, size and orientation sit on the left, the paginated preview in the middle, and pages can be flipped one by one or laid out as a grid to scan the whole book at once, with the table of contents and internal links actually clickable. Once it looks right, it exports the manuscript to the Kindle format KDP expects, saving a round trip. It is the last check before publishing, and it is free.
