WordPress desktop client for writing and site management
Description
The real enemy of blogging is not writer's block, it is the browser. Your admin panel is the seventh tab, right next to the inbox, the timeline and three pages you no longer remember opening — and halfway through a paragraph your hand drifts. WordPress.com for Desktop lifts the admin out of the browser into its own program, where there is no address bar and no other tab to click, so Alt+Tab drops you back exactly where you stopped writing.
It is the official client: sign in once and every site you own is listed down the left, with switching between them costing nothing. Beyond posts it covers themes, plugins, comments, stats and notifications, which is most of the day-to-day. Self-hosted WordPress sites connected through Jetpack can be managed from it too.
A dedicated writing window: the block editor runs in its own process, so navigation and saving feel quicker than in a tab, and drafts are cached locally so a dropped connection does not take half a post with it.
All sites in one place: My Site lists every site side by side with themes, plugins, pages, the media library and traffic stats all editable from there.
The Reader built in: subscribe to blogs and tags, then reblog or save what you find — reading and writing happen in the same window instead of two different tabs.
Native notifications: new comments, likes and follows arrive through the operating system's notification centre, so you are not refreshing a dashboard to find out someone replied.
Every desktop platform: Windows, macOS for both Intel and Apple silicon, and Linux as tar.gz or deb, so the client looks the same at home and at work.
